The training initiative completed by each installer, called Designer University, enables our company to sustain its ‘customer first’ culture and meet the needs of their growing roster of clients.
Hiring employees of high character
At Designer Door & Window, our installers are fulltime employees – and a critical part of our corporate “family. We seek to hire only employees of high character, then train them to master the needed skills. Most new hires tend to quickly understand our ‘customer first’ culture and commitment. Working with veteran employees, the new additions realize that the on-the-job expectations are achievable.
Designer University – an intense training program
Designer University is an intense 60-day training initiative during which new hires complete both classroom and on-the-job training with existing company employees. Each 90-day probationary candidate is assigned with a mentor who is responsible for their growth and success. By the 30th day, our managers know whether an employee is a good fit for the work to be done to the customer’s expectations.
A timeframe for learning
Every newly hired professional spends their first week immersed in classroom training. Beginning with their second week, they are at residential job sites participating in the installations of replacement doors and windows. They also provide the cleanup during post-installation. Each candidate must also master safety certification, as well as power tool and hand tool training. Depending on how long it takes them to build their skill level, they will take on more responsibility and their pay can increase.
