Step 1 - Preparation and Protection
Step 2 - Extraction
Step 3 - Remove Window Components
Step 4 - Extract Frame
This includes cutting the caulking, and removing the balancing system, operable sash, and the horizontal locking bar.
Step 5 - Clean & Prepare Opening
We make sure the opening is completely clear of any debris such as old mortar, caulking, nails, and insulation. Then we use a vacuum to clean up the smaller particles.
Step 6 - Set New Window in place
Once the old window is removed, we are now ready to install the new one.
Step 7 - Align & Attach Window
The craftsman will align the window squarely in the opening using composite shims, then attach the window to the structure of the house.
Step 8 - Insulate Around the Exterior of The Frame
A commercial foaming gun with a fine needlepoint allows us to get into some of the smallest openings with the expanding foam insulation and water barrier.
Step 9 - Clean Window
While the foam is expanding, the craftsman will clean the glass and frame.
Step 10 - Backer Rod
If the gap to be filled is 3/8ths of an inch or wider, a backer rod will be applied. This provides a firm foundation for the sealant.
Step 11 - Apply Sealant Adhesive
The sealant is the first line of defense against wind, rain, and other harsh elements. We use a sealant/adhesive to provide the best long-term protection.
Step 12 - Clean the Job-site
The #1 thing our customers remember about the installation is how our crews always clean up after themselves.
Remember, we never use subcontractors that are paid by the piece and overlook details to make more money. When you hire Designer Door and Window you are choosing a company with well-trained employees to do the installation right the first time. This is for your peace of mind.
